Auch
diese Nacht hat es heftig geregnet, und es regnete noch als ich kurz vor 8 Uhr
aufwachte: Die Brüllaffen auf dem Baum neben meinem Zimmer machten einen
fürchterlichen Krach! Das Hotel Luz de Mono befindet sich mitten im Jungel und
doch hört man auch das kräftige Tosen des Pazifiks.
Also last night it rained heavily, and it was still raining when I woke up shortly before 8 am: The howler monkeys in the tree next to my room made a terrible noise! Hotel Luz de Mono is located in midst of a jungle and yet you can hear the powerful roar of the Pacific.

Mein
erster Gang heute Morgen war zum Café Bakery für einen guten doppelten
Espresso, gleich neben dem Hotel. Dann setzte ich mich ins Hotelrestaurant zum
Frühstück, das inklusive ist und aus einer ganzen Reihe von Menüs ausgewählt
werden kann, ich entschied mich für ein Müesli mit frischen Früchten - lecker!
My first steps this morning were to Café Bakery for a good double espresso, right next to the hotel. Thereafter I sat down to have breakfast at the hotel restaurant, which is included and can be selected from a wide range of menus, I chose the muesli menu with fresh fruit - delicious!

Der Regen
hörte langsam auf, so machte ich mich kurz nach 10 Uhr auf und marschierte
durchs Dorf und weiter zu den Cataratas de Montezuma. Da es stark geregnet
hatte, war der Fluss, den man durchqueren muss, voller Wasser... Zur gleichen
Zeit traf sich Valentine aus Bordeaux mit derselben Idee ein und wir waren
beide froh, dass uns der ortskundige Dani begleitete… er führte uns souverän
durch den Fluss und auf Wegen, die sich teils durch Felsen als Kletterpartie
erwiesen, zum Wasserfall. : ) Nach 45 Minuten total erreichten wir die
Cataratas de Montezuma, die ebenfalls viel Wasser führten – natürlich toll für
Fotos.
The rain stopped slowly, so shortly after 10 I started to walk through the village and further on to the Cataratas de Montezuma. Since it had rained heavily the river, which you have to pass through, was full of water... At the same time, Valentine from Bordeaux arrived with the same idea and we were both happy that we were accompanied by Dani, who knew the place... he led us confidently through the river and on paths partly in the rocks, which proved to be more climbing than hiking, to the waterfalls. : ) After 45 minutes in total we reached the Cataratas de Montezuma with lots of water - of course great for photos.

Zurück im
Hotel stellte ich meine nassen Joggingschuhe an die Sonne - aber es ist so
feucht hier, dass sie kaum trocknen werden... Gestern Abend habe ich auch den
gesamten Inhalt meines Koffers ausgepackt und zum Entlüften und Trocknen in den
praktischen Schrank gelegt...
Back at the hotel I put my wet jogging shoes in the sun - but it's so humid here that they will barely dry... Last night I unpacked the entire contents of my suitcase and placed it in the practical cabinet for drying and getting fresh air...

Am
Nachmittag ging es auf eine 2-stündige Wanderung den schönen Stränden entlang,
was nur bei Ebbe möglich ist. Unterwegs kehrte ich im Ylang-Ylang Beach Resort
für einen frischen Passionsfruchtsaft ein und nahm später ein erfrischendes
Peelingbad (der grobkörnige Sand war ideal dafür!) in einem natürlichen Pool
des Ozeans.
Nach dem
vielen Wandern war ich richtig hungrig am späten Nachmittag. Das Café Bakery
hatte einen betörenden Riesencrevetten-Avocadosalat auf seinem Menüschild, dem
ich nicht widerstehen konnte... und es lohnte sich absolut! : ))
Genau vor
einem Monat bin ich hier in Costa Rica angekommen und hatte keine Ahnung, was
mich erwarten würde, weil meine Reise so gar nicht geplant war... Nun weiss ich
aber schon einiges mehr, zum Beispiel, dass die Restaurants hier Sodas heissen!
: ) Und meine Erfahrungen zeigen, dass die Ticos (so nennen sich die
Costa-Ricaner) nichts anbrennen lassen! Sie sind sehr direkt mit ihren Avancen
akzeptieren aber eine Abweisung sehr gut! : )) Dann ist da noch das mit den
Taxen... ein leidiges Thema bei dem man aufpassen muss: Wenn es nicht inklusive
ist bezahlt man jedes Mal noch 13% Taxen plus 10% Service... und das macht
zusammen 23% - also fast ein Viertel mehr! : (

In the afternoon I went for a 2-hour’s
walk along the beautiful beaches, which is only possible at low tide. On my way
I had a fresh passion fruit juice at the Ylang Ylang Beach Resort and later I
took a refreshing peeling-bath (the coarse sand was ideal for that!) in a
natural pool of the ocean.
After all that walking and hiking I
was really hungry in the late afternoon. The Café Bakery had infatuating prawns
and avocado salad on its menu board, I could not resist... and it was absolutely
worth it! : ))
Just a month ago I arrived in Costa
Rica and had no idea what to expect, because my trip was not planned that way...
but now I know quite a bit more, for example, that the restaurants here are
called sodas! : ) And my experience has shown that the Ticos (so Costa Ricans call
themselves) do not miss out on anything! They are very direct with their
advances but accept a rejection very well! : )) Then there's the thing with the
taxes... an annoying issue you have to be careful with: Iif it is not included
you have to pay 13% taxes plus 10% service... and that adds up to 23% - almost
a quarter more! : (
